Broadway Micky

Tk 1. "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious": Quite a mouthful! ;-) Micky does this in such a way that little kids would love it! His daughters sound great. I love when he forgets the word near the end.

Tk 2. "Talk to the Animals": My favorite song on this CD. I love the beat, including the soft maraca beat. Mick sings so well! This one is fun to sing along with.

Tk 3. "Somewhere Out There": My second fave. The violin is GREAT! I like this even better than the original. Micky's singing is SOO lovely -- as is appropriate for this song. It's a very easy range to sing along with.

Tk 4. "Put on a Happy Face": Great beat! That "Go big guy" line has me and my mom cracking up every time! The skatting right after the instrumental is terrific, especially the maracas.

Tk 5. "You're Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile": I love the drums in this -- especially the buzz rolls (maybe I just noticed those cause that's what we worked on in class today). The background vocals are well arranged. Micky's singing is VERY strong here!

Tk 6. "Neverending Story": I love this one -- it's so pretty! Especially the piano and woodblock. Micky's singing skill is very evident here -- he really proves his singing skills aren't just in rock n roll! I absolutely love this one!

Tk 7. "My Favorite Things": This song sounds like an Italian waltz. I like the tempo a lot. I really don't like Sound of Music or any of the music -- but this I love. Micky makes it sound so much better (okay, so I'm BIASED. So sue me.)

Tk 8. "Ease on Down the Road": I love this so much! The horns are wonderful -- sounds like a Shorty Rogers arrangement! Micky's singing is terrific too -- very strong. Great beat -- I almost want to get up and dance (but then I remember my asthma and settle for singing along at top volume).

Tk 9. "I Whistle a Happy Tune": Whatever instrument that is doing the twanging -- it sounds great! Micky's attempts at whistling are hilarious! "Rats!" "I got it" and, my fave (never fails to get me ROTFL) -- "I don't got it!" A very cheery song.

Tk 10. "Chim Chim Cher-ee": I don't like Mary Poppins either, but this song is terrific (I only like Micky's version tho -- VERY biased over here!). I keep thinking of Jeff Barry's comment in the Disney special about Micky bringing an acting talent to the music. That's very evident here -- he really is acting the part of a chimney sweep as he sings. I love the way he sounds at the point when it slows down -- "things half in shadow and halfway in light. On the rooftops of London . . " is SO lovely! The music sounds very Italian. :-)

Tk 11. "Me And My Arrow": The only song on here that I only half-like. I don't know why, it just doesn't hit me right. It's cute, but I don't like it a whole lot.

Tk 12. "When You Wish Upon a Star": Micky's singing is very lovely here. I like this better than the original. The solo piano suits the song excellently. Micky's singing is SOO strong, in terms of skill and talent. This would make a great lullaby.

OVERALL: I love this CD. It's one of my favorites. Most of the songs I wouldn't mind listening to over and over (with the exceptions of "Me and My Arrow", "Wish Upon a Star", "My Favorite Things" and the long hard-to-spell one). I especially love singing along -- this CD just lends itself to sing-along.
