Janis Joplin

One of the best female singers of all time, Janis had a short career, yet she was very well known in that short time. She was "discovered" by Chet Helms while singing in Texas and invited to join Big Brother & The Holding Company. When they performed at the Monterey International Pop Festival in June 1967, her career was suddenly skyrocketed. She soon left Big Brother and put together her own band, Kozmic Blues. Kozmic Blues didn't last long, and she then created Full Tilt Boogie. She was in the process of recording her album Pearl with Full Tilt when she died.
