I first discovered this incredible musician, believe it or not, because of the Monkees! I had read about the origins of the group and the "cattle call". Well, Steve Stills is a friend of Peter Tork's. He'd auditioned but didn't get in, so he called Peter (they were friends from a ways back, when they were both folkies in Greenwich Village -- they were "the kids who looked alike") -- and the rest is history!
But while Steve didn't make it into the Monkees, he still made his mark. First in Buffalo Springfield, later Crosby, Stills & Nash, then solo, Steve has had many hits, including "For What It's Worth".
More coming soon, including album reviews!
